Advanced Cultivation

MacroFuels aims to advance the cultivation of seaweed using a rotating crop scheme, which allows for year-round harvesting with largely improved biomass yields per ha per year. We  target year round cultivation of seaweed species, resulting in a constant supply of biomass of at least 25 kg seaweed (wet weight) per m2 per year, or doubling current state of the art. Subsequent automated harvesting concepts, which significantly reduce the cost of seaweed production, are targeted at 1000 m2/hr.
